7 Ways to Take Care of Yourself

Have you noticed how hectic life has become? Everyone is in a rush to be somewhere or do something. It seems that you are just churning out stuff to meet one deadline or another. There never seems to be enough time in the day for everything. Life just seems to come at you and sometimes you feel as if you are coming last in the race of life. Stop. Catch a breath. Now take a look at this article. Here are some ways to take care of yourself and maybe start feeling like the winner you are.

Start The Day Slowly

Yes, you have a million things to do before nightfall. However, ease into your day rather than rushing into it already harassed. Do a little meditation or just breathing and stretching exercises. Make a warm drink and sip it slowly. A good slow start to your day will make for a better day. This does not have to take up more than fifteen minutes. You will still have time to tackle your workload. Your mind will thank you later for using this simple way to take care of yourself.

Get Adequate Sleep

Another great way to take care of yourself. It will be almost impossible to have a nice slow start to your day if you have not had enough sleep. Your body needs a number of hours of REM (Rapid Eye Movement) sleep to function properly. The brain needs to do its tidying up process, sort out memories so you can find them when you need them. A big part of taking care of yourself is doing nothing but sleeping. Your body will thank you later.

Relaxation At Work

As the saying goes, “Change of occupation is rest”. You do not have to make elaborate plans to get some relaxation. Taking a fifteen-minute nap during your lunch hour can do wonders for you. You may prefer to go for a walk in the fresh air during that fifteen minutes. Whatever works for you as long as you give yourself a little break. Some people play games on their computer, while others chat with their friends. The important thing is to stop working for a little while to refresh yourself. This will make you more productive in the long run. Your boss will thank you later.

Vacation

Then there is the longer relaxation period where you don’t go to work at all. Use your vacation time effectively, it’s a wonderful way to take care of yourself. Some people take trips, see new places, meet new people and experience new cultures. Others prefer to return to nature, going camping, fishing, horseback riding. As long as you do what you like. Maybe you just want to stay at home and watch movies on the television or read some good fictional books. These are great ways to escape into other worlds and gain new experiences to enrich your life. Your mind will thank you later. You will thank yourself later.

Practice Good Hygiene

You may be surprised at how looking good makes you feel good. Don’t let yourself go. A nice warm or cold daily shower, depending on your preference and the climate, can be a real pick-me-up. You may prefer a long soak in the bath. Remember it’s all about you. Get a manicure and pedicure. If you can’t afford a salon, then try to do it yourself at home. You can have friends come over and have a homemade spa day and also get the benefits of socializing as well. Making yourself nice to be near will attract people to you and increase your social circle. Your friends will thank you later.

Take Care Of Your Body

If you want your body to be a well-oiled machine, you have to put in the oil. Make sure to eat healthy foods. Ensure that your meals are balanced and made up of the required food groups. You are not a garbage bin so don’t treat your body like one. Send the junk food to the junkyard where it belongs. If you want your body to perform at optimum, you have to provide it with the right fuel. Daily exercise is also necessary for a healthy body. It doesn’t have to be gym type exercise. Find the ones that suit you.

Don’t Procrastinate

Procrastination really is the thief of time. As you keep putting off the things you have to do, they begin to hang over your head like the sword of Damocles (see why it’s important to read). More and more work is left for the future, and more and more you feel bogged down. Taking care of your responsibilities in a timely manner, will not only give you a sense of accomplishment but will also make you feel freer and less burdened. It takes that load off your mind and allows you to enjoy your free time. Work first, and play later because if you play first, you may not enjoy it as much as, there is always that niggling feeling of a job unaccomplished in the back of your mind.

If you don’t take of yourself, who will? Use that and other affirmations to keep you on track and positive. Release your inner child from time to time. Laugh more, be silly. You go round in this life only once, so actually, live it. Have fun. Thanks for reading.
